THE INCENSE ROUTE EXPEDITION 2025

A Desert Odyssey

The Final Part of a Desert Trilogy

Following the 2,000 km ancient trade route through the length of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

A major expedition led by a small female British team and joined by Saudi women will walk with camels along the original ancient trade route from the far South West of the Kingdom to the North West, encompassing two deserts, the Sarawat Mountains and key cultural hubs, concluding in NEOM.

This audacious endeavour is the final and major part of a Desert Trilogy and the jewel in its crown.

It carries with it a message of global relevance with the Trilogy's mission of identifying the impact of climate change upon different environments and their communities, their means of adaption, the efficacy of these measures and how this knowledge can be of benefit to others.

In following the ancient Incense route, the expedition will seek to

  • Illustrate how the Kingdom of Saudi is building on its past to create a sustainable future.

  • Highlight the evolving role of women in Saudi society under the stewardship of HRH Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. Along the route, women from different walks of Saudi life will be invited to walk a while with the expedition team.

  • Through Saudi-Anglo sponsorships, partnerships and connections, to help lend impetus to the growing appetite for trade opportunities between the two Kingdoms.
